On March 29, 2019, the inclusion of the Livonian cultural space into the Latvian National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage will be officially confirmed for already the second time. This event will take place during a ceremony at the Krape Community House and the main participants will be the seven organisations, which submitted the application for the addition of the Livonian cultural space to the list. These include the Livonian Culture Centre (Līvõ kultūr sidām), the Livonian Union (Līvõd Īt), and the Ventspils Livonian association “Rānda”.

Along with the Livonian cultural space, other entries added to the Latvian National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage at the end of 2018 include: the Gauja River raftsmen’s trade craft; the northern Vidzeme tradition of weaving “double fabric” (dubultaudums) blankets using the “šatieris” pattern (in which monochromatic bands are woven with a characteristic colour gradient within each band); the Petersburg harmonica playing tradition; the zither-kokle playing tradition; the tradition of making bobbin lace; the Rucava cultural space; and the Upīte cultural space.

The List of Intangible Cultural Heritage was inaugurated following the adoption of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Act in late 2016. This legislation assists in the creation of the necessary environment and circumstances for the preservation and meaningful support of intangible cultural heritage. Currently, the list includes 14 entries.
