The International Society of Livonian Friends

The International Society of Livonian Friends (Liiviläisten ystävät ry) was established in Mazirbe on August 1, 1998. 48 individuals participated in the society’s founding among whom were primarily Latvians, Finns, and Estonians, but also diplomats from the Norwegian, Danish, and Estonian embassies in Latvia. The goal of the organization is support for the Livonians, safeguarding, promotion, and development of Livonian culture as well as cultural cooperation and increased connections between the Livonians and neighbouring nations and peoples. The head of this organization is Tiit-Rein Viitso. Its Estonian chapter is its most active.

The “Ventspils Livonian Society Rānda

The “Ventspils Livonian Society Rānda” was registered as a foundation in the Enterprise Register of the Republic of Latvia on March 6, 2012 and focuses on strengthening the Livonian community in the city and municipality of Ventspils as well as preserving Livonian language and culture. The Livonian Foundation supports the Livonian language, culture, and social environment and was established on March 31, 2009. The organization Randalist was established in Mazirbe in 2013.
