The Livonian flag is green, white, blue and its proportions are the same as those of the flag of Latvia.

The flag was first raised on November 18, 1923 at the Mazirbe parish priest’s residence. At first it was the flag of just the newly established Livonian Union, but in time it came to be seen as the flag of all Livonians.

The blue-white-green Livonian flag symbolizes the coastal environment home to the Livonians at that time: fishermen earned their living at sea (the bottom blue stripe), and looking back towards home would see in the distance the narrow sandy strips of the beach (the middle white stripe) and forest (the top green stripe).
